A predictable crisis in housing and services for elderly and disabled persons is fundamentally fueled by a combination of aging demographics and advances in healthcare and medical technology.

Initially, housing for elders and disabled persons was not a big issue as not many people lived past  the age of 65.  Today, there is an explosion of elderly people in our population.  As seniors live longer, housing for elders and disabled persons  has become a very large issue.  Elders and persons with disabilities are demanding accessible, quality; spacious housing that would afford and enhance opportunities to remain valuable, independent members of their communities.  In order to meet their needs, a great demand exists for innovations to deliver reasonably priced housing for elders, and to develop communities that keep elders and persons with disabilities healthy, active, and connected to the community.
